“The global recession has done little to slow the growing demand for good Data Centre space. In Australia major future initiatives include Data Centre consolidation, server and storage consol and cloud computing”

With these opening remarks and under the headline “DATA CENTER BUSINESS BOOMS DOWN UNDER” Australia’s Polaris Data Centre has gained increasing – and very complimentary - international recognition with a front page photo feature story in the January/February edition of “Data Center Management” Magazine distributed internationally by AFCOM.

AFCOM, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year is the world’s leading Data Centre industry association with thousands of industry professional members drawn from the more than 4,500 Data Centres worldwide it has on its books. AFCOM’S members include most of the Fortune 500 Companies, many US Government Agencies and Utilities – plus a growing number of organisations in Canada, South America and Europe. There are three AFCOM Chapters in Australia, in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, with a Canberra Chapter being formed.

The very positive four page story inside the magazine refers to Polaris as “Australia’s most modern data center located in Springfield, Queensland,” and follows the visit to Australia late last year by Jill Eckhaus (CEO) and Len Eckhaus (Founder) of AFCOM.

Located at Springfield City, in South East Queensland, (also described positively in some detail) Polaris is a world class, Tier 3+, defence compliant facility housing the primary systems for major organisations including the Queensland Government, Suncorp, NEC Japan, EDS, British Gases, and Ipswich City Council.

Jill Eckhaus was particularly impressed with the best practice design of Polaris and as a result, invited Mike Andrea, Director of The Strategic Directions Group, the ICT Master Planners for the City of Springfield, and the Design Authority of the Polaris Facility - to present at AFCOM’s Data Centre World in Nashville, in March.

Ms Eckhaus was also impressed with the high standards of data centre design and operation in Australia, and has committed to the establishment of an Asia Pacific Branch of the Organisation.
