AFCOM Brisbane Chapter set up
March 2009 – Strategic Directions provides much needed support for the set up of the Brisbane Chapter of AFCOM.
AFCOM is a leading international data centre association with a membership base of more than 4,000 data centre professionals from over 50 countries, and including many of the Fortune 500 Companies.
Strategic Direction’s Executive General Manager David Robinson is also the Vice-President of the new Chapter and has attended an International AFCOM Conference which provided valuable feedback about evolving trends and standards in data centre design and operation. “The Forum is vendor independent and aims to help any manager involved in any aspect of data centre operations,” he said. “This coincides with our Company’s own vendor independent approach, and we applaud AFCOM’s commitment to providing advice and guidance to data centre users free of vendor influences.”
AFCOM is dedicated to providing education and resources for data centre professionals. AFCOM’s Mission is to build an innovative and comprehensive portfolio of resources that enable data centre users to get the most from their investment in AFCOM membership. From Educational conferences and an extensive local Chapter program to in-depth publications and research tools, AFCOM provides the means to empower its members.
The data centre environment is constantly changing, making it difficult to stay abreast of the latest information and technology. AFCOM offers the tools and knowledge needed to successfully manage today’s data centre.
Although data centres are alike in many ways, data centre managers face unique challenges depending on the industry they represent, the size of the data centre, what projects they are planning for, and where they stand with these projects. AFCOM provides real value to its members by offering individualized assistance to help meet their personal needs.
