Polaris Springfield selected as National Facility for NBN

NBN Co has decided to locate its second national data centre within the state-of-the-art Polaris facility at Springfield in Queensland. The contract surprised many Industry observers since NBN Co had earmarked Melbourne as the likely candidate for location of its second major facility, as recently as September last year. In fact the option has been under consideration for several months. Some of the confusion over the location for the NBN Co's second data centre may have been due to the presence of a large racking environment in its Docklands facility near Melbourne's CBD. The deal adds yet another high-profile customer to the five-storey, $241 million Polaris data centre facility located south-west of Brisbane's CBD, which already includes NEC Australia, Suncorp, CITEC, HP and others.
